My latest project has now started! I’ve agreed a six-month contract with my favourite PMS provider XEYEX as they look to enhance how their customers access training and support. I’ll be working alongside them to deliver training, contribute to a new digital learning experience and helping to launch a customer knowledge base.

It’s all designed to make onboarding of new practice staff and ongoing learning simpler and smoother.

I can’t wait to get going!

I am taking on a new challenge!

I LOVE my locum work and will be continuing to provide dispensing services in a variety of local Practices but I will now also be representing the inimitable Tokai Lens UK as their independent agent in Scotland!

My two roles can be connected or separated as needed, I am hopeful that each will complement the other and continue to teach me new things.

I have just arrived home after attending Eyecare 2023 in Glasgow and it was a fantastic event.

My highlight was being named Dispensing Optician of the year, as selected by ABDO.

This was a huge surprise and a delightful honour – to receive such recognition from my peers under the final decision of our professional body is a privilege I will always remember and something I am truly thankful for.

Next week sees the start of a new project! I am delighted to be joining one of my regular Practices as a temporary Assistant Manager and Training Manager. The store has seen significant changes recently, on top of the Covid-related scenarios we have all endured. So I’m really looking forward to helping the team move forward, to develop themselves and bring in some positive, sustainable changes.

This arrangement will take me in to early 2022, after which I will be back to my normal Locum days. So if you are planning ahead for parental leave, holidays or any other planned time away from the business and need DO cover, please do get in touch.

FULLY BOOKED!

I now have a full diary for the remainder of 2021. I really didn’t expect to be in a position where I couldn’t take any more bookings but that’s where I am now! Of course things can change but for now I have lots of nice Practices to revisit.

Holiday time!

I am taking a well-earned week off to enjoy some down-time with my family, so hopefully the lovely weather will stick around for a bit yet! There’s always room for personal growth!

This week I registered as a STEM Ambassador. The aim of the STEM Learning scheme is to provide a world-leading STEM education for all young people across the UK. As an Ambassador I am excited to be part of this, to help our young people find the confidence and support they need to choose a STEM career. Next week should see my induction completed so watch this space for updates!

All good things must come to an end – and that’s why we appreciate them when we have them!
Over the last few months I have been working with a fantastic team in two independent practices, however this is now coming to its natural end. Whilst I am sad to be leaving such an amazing team and two exceptional practices, it gives me a great opportunity to work with a new business! Such is the excitement of locum life, when one door closes the next ones open.

I must thank the absolutely wonderful folk at Jack Brown Eyecare for welcoming me into their team, and wish them all the very best going forward.

Covid-19

As part of NHS Scotland’s vaccination programme for health care professionals I have received both doses of the Coronavirus vaccine. I also undertake bi-weekly lateral flow testing in accordance with current guidelines for the duration of any booking and will conduct a test before attending at the beginning of any blocks. I will arrive at your practice wearing a face covering and with sanitizer. If you require me to provide my own PPE please confirm this when making a booking.
